going and buying one. 300ZX's, both twin turbo and non-turbo were extremely over-engineered for 1990's standards And they still out-complicate many of todays high-tech cars. That means, aside from the normal maintenance issues that the average engine would have, you will also be dealing with a fairly complex engine operating system. At the best it's going to be 8 years old, at worst, 14... factor in mileage, and the higher-than-normal under-hood temperatures, and yes, parts need replacing here and there... and it can get expensive. If you're looking at something ~80k miles, there are a few things you are going to want to do: 60k mile mainenance, as mentioned (if not already done), possibly new plugs, PCV valves, new fuel lines are a good idea (possibly along with the dampener and regulator), fuel filter, air-filter (may as well get a JWT pop-charger or similar, if not already installed), etc. These cars are great if maintained properly. IMO, it's all worth it to drive one of the sexiest cars on the road. Good luck with whatever you decide to do, ~Mike
